WRESTLING - WWE,WWF,SMACKDOWN

WWE have secured the services of two of Ireland’s top wrestlers – by signing Joey Cabray and Rachel Walker.

The pair are heading to the WWE’s developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling where they will trained and assessed, before hopefully moving on to the main WWE roster. Joey and Rachel must hope that they will be able to follow in the footsteps of their countryman Sheamus. He has become one of the world’s top grapplers – headlining WWE events and twice holding the company’s World Heavyweight Championship. Joey, who wrestles under the ring name Omen on the independent scene, is set to leave for Florida next week. Rachel – better known by her ring name of Rachelle St Claire – will travel when she recovers from a knee injury. Cabray, 30, said: “This move means a great deal to me. “I’ve trained hard for the last eight years and made a lot of sacrifices. “I’ve travelled everywhere from Tokyo to Berlin and now I have finally made it to the WWE. “I feel honoured because there are literally hundreds of thousands of young indy wrestlers around the world, yet only a couple of hundred get a contract with the WWE. “I know all the hard work is ahead of me, but I am ready for the challenge.”
